ONE OF EACH is an exhibition series with two solo presentations in association with a selection of works from a private collection. After showing parts of private collections (Sammlung Hückstädt, Ansammlung Peter Ungeheuer, Sammlung von Foerster) and one public collection, the Daimler Art Collection, we are delighted to present the Berlin based MT Collection. TORSION MIX — ONE OF EACH #6 is both a solo presentation and a group exhibition in which the works function as a basis for conversation, more for complicity than competition.
“Torsion” is the title of a series of works by ALINE SCHWÖRER, in which she experiments with making her own bioplastic to replace other, more environmentally harmful materials. Torsion refers to the state of being twisted, also the twisting of a body organ or part around its own axis. The works presented in the exhibition show ambiguous and hybrid creatures in which flora is merged with fauna to form an ecosystem in their own right.
Also on display are postcards that the artist developed during the pandemic as places she wished to have visited. Found objects are embedded in the postcards, to establish a connection to these places.
“MIX” is not only the title of one of ALEKOS HOFSTETTER coloured pencil drawing but also a reference to his approach of working in which he brings together elements of comic and lettering using various old printing techniques. In his works Hofstetter deals with the constant change in architecture from 1950 to 1980, showing the juxtaposition of iconic, emblematic architecture and strange, alienated landscapes.

ALINE SCHWÖRER (*1993) studied fine arts at Universität der Künste Berlin in the class of Prof. Christine Streuli and is currently based in Berlin. At a young age she already won several prices and stipends such as the Recognition Award of the Ursula Hanke Förster Foundation for Sculpture, 2021; Ceramic Artist in Residence, Künstlerhaus Stadttöpferei Neumünster, 2019, Joint glass class, Berlin Glas e.V., 2018, Winter scholarship of the St. Moritz art academy. Her first exhibition was at LAGE EGAL in 2015, followed by many others at the Galerie Intershop Leipzig, Raum für Sichtbarkeit Berlin, Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik Berlin, Positions Art Fair Berlin, Künstlerhaus Stadttöpferei Neumünster, museum FLUXUS Potsdam, CK Offspace, Kunstquartier Bethanien Berlin among others.
ALEKOS HOFSTETTER (*1967, Bonn) and grew up in Brussels and Bangkok. He lives and works in Berlin since 1996. Together with the artists Christian Steuer and Daniel H. Wild, he founded the artist collective BEWEGUNG NURR in 1989 in Dresden. Hofstetter participated in numerous international exhibitions including Goethe-Institut Toronto, the Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst (NGBK), Berlin, Ideal-Passage, Berlin, GLUE, Berlin, Galerie Lisi Hämmerle, Bregenz, Laura Mars Gallery, Berlin and received various grants from Stiftung Kulturfonds, Berlin, Stiftung F.AIM, Den Haag, Else Heiliger Fonds, Berlin, Stiftung Dr. Robert und Lina Thyll-Dürr, Elba, Künstlerhaus Lukas, Ahrenshoop, the Stanglerhof Residency, Bolzano. Together with the Berlin stage designer Nina von Mechow, he worked on the stage design of various theatre projects, including Strasbourg Opera House Opéra national du Rhin, plays by George Tabori at the Theater in der Josefstadt, Vienna, and for René Pollesch at the Deutsches Theater Berlin.
