ASTRID KÖPPE (*1974) works in a classical studio on her drawings but also in an industrial factory, the only possible place where the complex production of enamel can be realized. The large-scale enamels are reminiscent of Köppe‘s biomorphic forms, but they appear simpler and even more signalistic than her works on paper. Instead, the enamels have a strong object character because of their materiality. Their clearly recognizable patterns are reminiscent of pictograms, but they refuse to be univocal and retain a certain mystery. They are rather like road signs to a territory where one can not only examine the mechanisms of one‘s own perception, but also discover the beauty of forms.
BEN GREBER (*1979) is currently working on his „Evacuations“ cycle, which began in 2018 with a series of works related to the landscape of his childhood in rural Münsterland. Since the beginning of the year, he has been working on a new cycle that concludes his stay in Berlin — he unfortunately had to leave his studio last December. „Evacuations 4“ again combines a metal construction containing plastic casts of singular objects that the artist discovered in the vicinity of his studio, located right next to LAGE EGAL, with laser cut-outs (similar to the „Skylinked“ series) of images selected from Instagram, whose geographical tag is the surrounding area of Greifswalder Str.
In 2023 Ben Greber will return to Luxembourg for a major presentation of his work at the Konschthal Esch, at the invitation of Christian Mosar.
