BRISE is about openness and change, vague expectations and concrete attempts. Exhibited is an arrangement of painting, sculpture, furniture and spatial intervention. With a blue vertical line, Möller seems to painterly open the surface of the niche above the radiator, reminiscent of a closed window, by a crack.
Imaginarily, a balmy breeze is created by the draught thus suggested with the opposite entrance door of IN THE RACK ROOM: a moment of change. The exhibited works are about the search for new forms, are deconstructions: Paintings that are symbiotically intertwined with the exhibition space by carefully opening their surfaces or frames. The sculpture Umbruch (2014-2016, 2020), which seems to be in an intermediate state of old and new. And furniture that was originally pedestals. The will to change and move is inherent in each work.
David Möller (*1983 in Osnabrück) lives and works in Berlin. He studied painting at Academy of Art & Design in Enschede, Netherlands and at Marmara University in Istanbul, Turkey, from 2005-2009. Möller realizes both painterly and three-dimensional works. In recent years, he has also been exploring new staging possibilities. Exhibition spaces are reflected by Möller as an artistic means of presentation, manipulated and changed by new spatial elements. This results in environments that offer specific frames for paintings and objects integrated into them.

BRISE handelt von Öffnung und Veränderung, vagen Erwartungen und konkreten Versuchen. Ausgestellt ist ein Arrangement aus Malerei, Skulptur, Möbel und räumlicher Intervention. Mit einer blauen vertikalen Linie scheint Möller malerisch die Fläche der Nische oberhalb des Heizkörpers, die an ein geschlossenes Fenster denken lässt, um einen Spalt zu öffnen.
Imaginär entsteht eine laue Brise durch den so angedeuteten Durchzug mit der gegenüberliegenden Eingangstür von IN THE RACK ROOM: Ein Moment der Veränderung. Die ausgestellten Werke handeln vom Suchen nach neuen Formen, sind Dekonstruktionen: Malereien, die durch behutsames Öffnen ihrer Flächen oder Rahmen symbiotisch mit dem Ausstellungsraum verschränkt sind. Die Skulptur Umbruch (2014-2016, 2020), die sich in einem Zwischenzustand von alt und neu zu befinden scheint. Und Möbel, die ursprünglich Sockel waren. Der Wille zur Veränderung und Bewegung ist jeder Arbeit inhärent.
David Möller (*1983 in Osnabrück) lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Er studierte von 2005-2009 Malerei an der Academy of Art & Design in Enschede, Niederlande und an der Marmara Universität in Istanbul, Türkei.
Möller realisiert sowohl malerische als auch dreidimensionale Werke. In den letzten Jahren setzt er sich zudem mit neuen Inszenierungsmöglichkeiten auseinander. Ausstellungsräume werden von Möller als künstlerisches Präsentationsmittel reflektiert, manipuliert und durch neue Raumelemente verändert. So ergeben sich Umgebungen, die spezifische Rahmen für darin integrierte Bilder und Objekte bieten.
*IN THE RACK ROOM is the new side project of Pierre Granoux, based in his former artist studio, today his storage room. Each selected artist is invited to work in this rack room and to question “the relationship between where art is made and where art is displayed” (Brian O’Doherty).
The creative act will be documented and displayed as an Instagram takeover.
