For her first solo exhibition at LAGE EGAL, titled IT DEPENDS, Marta Colombo presents a selection of new works. The Italian-German artist’s working methods involve questioning materials, spatial structures, perceptive strategies and the sensory response of viewers. She explores staging processes and the spatial relationships between objects and their environment in analogue and digital spaces.
As shown in this selection of sculptures, photographs and silkscreen prints, the work explores the different properties of materials (including everyday objects) in analogue and digital space. The artist explores geometric and clear structures as well as wild and free complexes while questioning her practice: What effect do the things around us have on us? How can our perception of space and matter be sensitised? How can we question the usual use of materials?
The IT DEPENDS exhibition presents a selection of experimental arrangements that open up to new material perspectives. In this context, materials can also be understood as a spatial narrative. What biographies do materials have and what memories and emotions can they evoke in us? How do you feel about this exhibition context? The aim of the exhibition is to demand a poetic and experimental feeling for the materials and an aesthetic sensibility.
