Exciting news! Get ready for ORNAMENT UND VERBRECHEN’s seventh exhibition, featuring captivating textile works by JESSICA BUHLMANN and painting series by DAG. The two artists will also create an unique collaborative wall installation for the first time and at the special occasion of this exhibition.

Jessica Buhlmann’s textile works unfold in space like living structures. The spatial constructions consist of interwoven lines and organic nets borrowed from the study of plant structures, veins or maps. Struts tightly wrapped in fabric and coloured fields create views and insights and interweave the space in a painterly way.

DAG’s works are created in series. In the latest paintings, lines stagger, intersect, overlap, form alliances and dissonances, enticing the viewer to explore their own lights and shadows. They can represent anything: a fragment of an object, a hint of a shape, ghosts, niches, traces, or necessary clouds. “Subversion must create its own chiaroscuro” (Roland Barthes in “The Pleasure of the Text”, 1976).

The exhibition will be held in our temporary space at Strausberger Platz 19, nestled in one of architect Hermann Henselmann’s iconic neoclassical towers, the edifice is also known as ‘Haus des Kindes’ (Children’s House). Inspired by Adolf Loos’ provocative essay, this series of curatorial projects in the form of a duo exhibition challenges perceptions of ornamentation, inviting you to explore intriguing narratives of modernity and minimalism in today’s society.
