On the occasion of the release of an edition of 17 stickers of the brand Zeix (remix of images 2004-2018) on an orange neon poster, LAGE EGAL presents the installation The stickers collection by the Berlin based artist Jérôme Chazeix. The visitor is invited to enter the gallery, transformed into a “pop up store” for the occasion. The effect is immediate, the viewer is in a fashion store with a noisy electronic music which resonates in a loop. The installation: a video loop presenting the stickers projected on the walls covered with the poster of the edition, music, textile works combined in synergy, some geometric objects made of wood, features the fictional label “Zeix Berlin” which the artist has been playing with for almost 20 years.
Derived from its family name and in the form of a devastating logo, “Zeix” appropriates the elements of our consumer society such as trends, mass media, fashion, pop culture, etc … With a particular aesthetic and a certain level of naivety and irony, “Zeix” is a mirror of our society.
IN THE RACK ROOM is the new side project of LAGE EGAL, based in the former artist studio of Pierre Granoux, today his storage room. Each selected artist is invited to work in this rack room and to question “the relationship between where art is made and where art is displayed” (Brian O’Doherty). The creative act will be documented and displayed as an Instagram takeover at @intherackroom.
