Rijnder Kamerbeek

In the past few years Rijnder Kamerbeek almost exclusively worked on a vast collection of small paintings on wood. His works are based on everyday objects and scenes he found in the streets of Berlin, or details of photographs that reach him from all over the world. Often revolving around nature, death, construction and destruction his subjects are commonly painted from memory, and brought back to minimal shapes and textures. Committed to a single small format the works can easily be combined, arranged and re-arranged to create new combinations. By doing so he creates visual puzzles. A game that challenges us to play with the elements, explore how we give value and meaning to them based on a limited context, and construct a new personal narrative.
