The exhibition “In Dust Things Meet” presents the work of the Dutch artist Ties ten Bosch. The works have emerged from his residency and artistic project “If paradise is half as nice #11” that took place in 2021 in Meuselwitz, Germany. In the installation, various objects are brought together that are completely unrelated to each other, but through the unexpected encounters new connections arise. The works in the installation show experimentation with material, composition and narrative. Covered with layers of charcoal dust, the installation not only playfully questions the visual language that emerges from bringing the objects together, but also poetically shows the passing of something, whereby ultimately only the silhouette of the objects remains.
Ties ten Bosch, born in 1977, is a Dutch artist who lives and works in Berlin and ‘s-Hertogenbosch. He studied Fine Arts at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. For his work, he was awarded several grants and participated in numerous international residencies. He has exhibited nationally and internationally among others: Kunstverein, Schwäbisch Hall, Germany; Frank Taal Gallery, Rotterdam, The Netherlands; ZQM, Berlin, Germany; LAGE EGAL, Berlin; Habitable spaces, Kingsbury, Texas, USA; Gilla Loercher Gallery, Berlin. Ties ten Bosch is currently represented by the Frank Taal Gallery in Rotterdam, Little Bird Place in Sofia and LAGE EGAL in Berlin. Besides his individual artistic practice, the artist has been active in various artistic collaborations, such as: Volksrekorders (www. volksrekorders.com), hOUTSKOOL (an analogue art-zine), the B.a.d-foundation (www.stichtingbad.nl) and currently with If Paradise Is Half As Nice (www.ipihan.com).
*IN THE RACK ROOM is the new side project of Pierre Granoux, based in his former artist studio, today his storage room. Each selected artist is invited to work in this rack room and to question “the relationship between where art is made and where art is displayed” (Brian O’Doherty).
The creative act will be documented and displayed as an Instagram takeover.
