Following on from last year’s concept, BEN GREBER’s work will be explored in greater depth for our second participation at Luxembourg Art Week. On Sunday afternoon, the last day of the fair, there will be a discussion between the artist and Christian Mosar, director of the Konschthal Esch at 15.30, NOV 12, in the Art Talk Area. In addition to Luxembourg Art Week, the artist is taking center stage with a major solo show at the KONSCHTHAL ESCH until FEB 25, 2024.
In addition to Greber’s sculptures, we are proud to present the surprising and remarkable paintings of FRANZISKA REINBOTHE for her first participation at an art fair. Reinbothe’s unique approach overturns the limits of traditional painting techniques, molding the edges of the canvas into sculptural marvels. With techniques such as stretching, folding, breaking, cutting and sewing, she makes use of destruction as a catalyst for creation. Curiosity and impulsiveness, not iconoclasm, are her driving forces, and coincidence and even accident are closely linked and accepted.
While BEN GREBER’s sculptural works evoke the original form and function of the object, they also transcend it in their reduction and appear as autonomous works of art. Greber’s sculptural practice draws on our ever-changing environment, capturing and bearing witness to its essence in a specific moment. The artist never ceases to see reality as a mesh of signs and coincidences. He masterfully combines materials such as cardboard and epoxy resin, producing works that visually reflect the remnants of human impact on our utilitarian landscapes. Greber’s sculptures were exclusively produced for the art fair presentation.
We had the pleasure of unveiling both artists’ creations in May 2023 in our new exhibition space on Strausberger Platz in Berlin, located on the first floor of Hermann Henselmann’s famous neoclassical tower, a fascinating dialogue unfolded, where aesthetics met raw intensity.
