<The Path> is an artistic practice consisting of the observation of urban transportation.
In this practice, the function of the transport apparatus–Berlin’s Ring Bahn translated into a 3D object scanning application, where the urban landscape inside the ring is scanned as an object and translated into point cloud data in the digital environment. In this process, the artist became a medium to synchronise with both Ring Bahn and the point cloud scanning system, combining the benefits of transportation, digital image capture technology and computation together to build a scanning system, and use it to create a point cloud model of the city within the Ring. During the process of constructing the model, the completeness of the model is limited by the form of transportation. This limitation reflects the character of the tool which further affects the users who are synchronised with the tool.
