It was with great pleasure and no hesitation that we accepted the invitation from Laetitia Gorsy of Gallery She Bam! to take part in this year’s Rundgang at the Spinnerei, in keeping with our ongoing quest to broaden the horizons of LAGE EGAL’s curatorial projects.
The exhibition project, simply entitled INVITED, will take place in the majestic Werkschauhalle (Hall 12) nestled in the middle of the Spinnerei, and will bring together for the weekend a dozen international galleries, each invited by a gallery based at Leipzig’s Spinnerei, from Berlin to Bogota, Düsseldorf to Paris, Barcelona to Munich or Budapest.
LAGE EGAL was launched in Berlin by French artist—curator Pierre Granoux in 2012. Its name is also a playful anagram and refers to the use of ever-changing spaces and experimental exhibition formats.
Guided by the concept of the Greek god Kairos, LAGE EGAL is known for its ability to react quickly and exploit opportunities. Its nomadic and dynamic approach is based on occasional and open collaborations with a large variety of artists, curators, galleries, art spaces and institutions, allowing it to remain mobile and adaptable in the contemporary art landscape.
