At its core, the booth stages a dialogue between works that question both materiality and perception.
It brings together MARTA DJOURINA, a Berlin-based artist and recent recipient of the prestigious EMOP Arendt Award (European Month of Photography) in Luxembourg, and BRAM BRAAM, whose material investigations have taken shape in his new studio near Maastricht, at the European crossroads of Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Braam’s participation has been made possible with the financial support of the Mondriaan Fund.
MARTA DJOURINA (b. 1991, Sofia, BG) explores the ephemeral nature of light, using analogue photographic paper as her stage. Through extended exposures and fleeting gestures, she choreographs a delicate dance between precision and chance.
Here, photography becomes a corporeal ritual. By blurring the boundaries between photographic process and performative act, Djourina challenges the medium’s conventions, proposing instead an embodied, time-based practice where the artist’s body becomes an active agent in image-making.
BRAM BRAAM (b. 1980, Sittard, NL) examines the raw traces of urban environments. His minimalist practice follows the cyclical transformation of materials—concrete, steel, brick, glass—often recovered directly from the street.
Balancing randomness and control, his works transform everyday matter into poetic meditations on time. Situated between the real and the abstract, they reflect architecture’s ongoing state of flux, from decay to renewal.
Also featured on the stand are Luxembourgish artists FRANCK MILTGEN and JULIEN HÜBSCH, both of whom are simultaneously presented across the city as part of the ARTWALK. Miltgen presents an installation within RENDEZ–VOUS (27 on the map), while Hübsch contributes a monumental sculpture on the Pont Adolphe as part of the Sculpture Trail (D on the map).
